Yes, you can. Garden design often begins simply with an idea or a wish to improve the garden. When you get in touch, I help clarify your needs and explore the possibilities so that a residential garden or a company’s outdoor space can be designed into a functional, enjoyable and well-structured environment.

To begin the garden design process, a few basic details about the site are needed. After your initial contact, I will ask you to send additional information such as a site plan, possible architectural drawings, and photographs of the garden and its surroundings.

We will also discuss your wishes regarding how the garden will be used, its style and desired functions. The design process also considers factors such as the size of the plot, sun exposure, terrain and elevation, and existing vegetation, so that the garden can be designed as a functional, comfortable and site-appropriate outdoor space.

FFor new residential projects, garden design should ideally begin as early as possible, preferably before the final permit drawings are submitted. Depending on the municipality, a landscape plan may also be required as part of the building permit application, so it is beneficial to include garden design in the overall building project from the beginning.

Early garden design also benefits the site preparation phase. With a plan in place, excavated soil can be reused to shape the terrain of the garden, and some of the groundwork can be carried out at the same time as the house foundation works. This allows the landscape construction to proceed in a more planned and cost-efficient way.

Garden design is also useful when renovating or improving an existing yard to make it more functional, comfortable and visually appealing. It is recommended to allow at least two months for the design process so that the concept, draft design and final garden plan can be developed carefully. The exact schedule depends on the scope of the project and the size of the area being designed.

I primarily provide garden design services in Finland, but I also work more widely across the European Union. Projects can be arranged in several European countries, including for example Sweden, Norway, Denmark, the Netherlands, Belgium, Luxembourg, Germany, France, Italy, Spain, Portugal and the United Kingdom.

Garden design can also be carried out remotely, provided that sufficient site information is available, such as site plans, drawings and photographs of the property. Remote garden design makes it possible to develop well-considered outdoor spaces efficiently regardless of location.
